Wayne is located in
Northeast Nebraska, approximately 45 miles southwest of Sioux City, Iowa and
45 miles northeast of Norfolk, is the home of Providence Medical Center and
Wayne State College. Missionary Benedictine Sisters serve the people in
health and pastoral care.
Providence Medical Center is a 25-bed acute care critical access hospital. It was
built in 1974 and is owned and operated by the Missionary Benedictine
Sisters. A
physicians' clinic was built in 1996 and is attached to the hospital. Five
physicians live and work in Wayne. There are several outpatient specialty
clinics held in the hospital. A 10,000 sq. ft. out patient department has
been recently completed.
The M issionary
Benedictine Sisters work at Providence Medical Center in nursing and pastoral
care. Five sisters serve on the board of directors and ensure that
